VAT 7% Calculator

Calculate value added tax both ways: add VAT to a pre-tax price, or extract VAT from a price that already includes tax. Satang are rounded at every step.

What kind of price do you have?

Result

  2. Enter the amount, and adjust the VAT rate if it is not 7%
  3. See the pre-VAT amount, the value added tax and the total instantly

Frequently asked questions

How is 7% VAT extracted from a total price?

Pre-VAT amount = total price × 100 ÷ 107, rounded to the satang. VAT = total price − pre-VAT amount. For example, a total of 107 baht splits into 100 baht before VAT and 7 baht VAT.

Why does VAT sometimes differ by 1 satang between extracting and adding?

It comes from rounding satang. When extracting VAT, the tool rounds the pre-VAT amount first and takes VAT as the difference, so that pre-VAT amount + VAT equals the total you entered exactly.

What is the current VAT rate?

The commonly applied rate is 7% (reduced from the statutory 10% by Royal Decree). If the rate changes, you can edit the VAT rate field in the tool yourself.
