Xiangqi is played on the intersections of a 9×10 board divided by a river, with a palace for each general. Each side has 16 pieces, including cannons that must jump over exactly one piece to capture. The two generals may never face each other with no piece in between, and you win by checkmating the opponent or leaving them without a legal move.
